Make it for Verizon and it will fly
  • schujj07 - Wednesday, March 6, 2019 - link

I second the desire to have that on Verizon. It would be nice to have a mid range phone that has performance.
  • Rictorhell - Wednesday, March 6, 2019 - link

Does it have a micro sdxc card slot?
  • CaedenV - Wednesday, March 6, 2019 - link

... it has 128GB of internal storage....
I get wanting an SD card slot at 64GB or less, but at 128GB on a midrange device... you may be using your phone wrong if you need more
  • GTRagnarok - Wednesday, March 6, 2019 - link

"I don't need this, so no one should need it either."
  • close - Thursday, March 7, 2019 - link

"All products should be what I want".

Maybe you are looking at the wrong product, how about that? It's a 300E phone with decent specs and 128GB of (faster) internal storage. If you want something on top of that there are other phones to satisfy you.

BTW, I want linear particle accelerator in there. And so should you.

It was just a question. He can ask questions without you assuming anything more about his intend, can't he?
  • BurntMyBacon - Thursday, March 7, 2019 - link

Evidence clearly to the contrary (o_O)

I know AT's comment system is one of the more atrocious on the interwebs (any techies there to take it out of the dark ages?) but I was clearly replying to GTRagnarok's attempt at sarcasm. The question was already asked and answered before that.

Any minimal vido collection or music in lossless will chunks those 128GB, I prefer to have SD cardS with different media depending on my tastes for the day, anime/manga/comics/cartoons/etc.
  • close - Thursday, March 7, 2019 - link

Then you surely prefer another phone. The "my collection of 4K lossless videos doesn't fit on this cheap midrange phone with a non 4K screen" is the sort of argument I hear often. Usually from people who are mostly interested in the price tag and then they expect everything for that money.

These guys have a market sector to satisfy: people who want decent performance with a low price. Niche requirements like lossless music don't fit in there (not even counting the uselessness of lossless audio on a midrange phone / headphones).

Slightly worried about the intention to detail/general effort of they can't even write photo in plural.

    @RSAUser: pay attention to details!

    "a higher-end MediaTek SoC"
    ...
    "MediaTek’s P70 SoC (4x Arm Cortex-73, 4x Arm Cortex-A53, Arm Mali G72-MP3 graphics, Cat-7 DL/Cat-13 UL 4G/LTE)"

    For 2017, not 2019.
For most people, it is better to have 1 fast A76+8 a55s than 4 A73s+4A53s. Synthetic multi-threaded tests in controlled environments. Because of thermal and energy throttling of 4OoO CPUs inevitable in phones.

Ask 99.999% of smartphone users what type of CPU they have in their phone...they wont have a clue.

"Ask 99.999% of smartphone users what type of CPU they have in their phone...they wont have a clue."

8 cores, surely. Must be good.
  • Midwayman - Thursday, March 7, 2019 - link

    Because they have SoCs instead?
  • close - Thursday, March 7, 2019 - link

I hope you know SoCs also have CPUs. For example if I ask you what type of CPU your phone has, I mean what type of CPU, not what SoC. It means I don't care about the GPU, the ISP, the modem, etc.

Relevant quote from the discussion just above, talking about CPU cores, not the SoC: "For most people, it is better to have 1 fast A76+8 a55s than 4 A73s+4A53s".
  • Lord of the Bored - Thursday, March 21, 2019 - link

My CPU's a Samsung Google, and it runs at 1080p. That's good, right?
  • eastcoast_pete - Wednesday, March 6, 2019 - link

@Anton: Are these phones actually made in Algeria, or, like most phones, made in China for the Algerian market?
About the set itself: Not a bad phone, but that SoC is middling at best. For just a few Euros more, you can get a Pocophone F1 with similar specs but with a Snapdragon 845 SoC. One of the best price/performance ones currently available, IMO. And, if Xiaomi refreshes that phone for 2019 with an 855, this Condor phone really becomes a stretch unless they update the SoC.
  • Lolimaster - Wednesday, March 6, 2019 - link

Specially when a SOC don't cost that much, $35-50 unless you customize it like exynos.
  • Lolimaster - Wednesday, March 6, 2019 - link

    Just a vanilla A75 or A76 + A55
  • prisonerX - Wednesday, March 6, 2019 - link

    "outfight"? Did you mean outright?
  • Ryan Smith - Wednesday, March 6, 2019 - link

    Indeed we did. Thanks!
  • cpkennit83 - Wednesday, March 6, 2019 - link

I paid 370€ for the 128gb version of the SD845 powered MI8. Thats an amoled screen too. So while not bad, the small price advantage wouldnt justify going with a mediocre mediatek soc, probably not great camera and unknown but probably not great software support.

Typo: [...] as well an in-screen fingerprint scanner.
  • HollyDOL - Thursday, March 7, 2019 - link

It's funny they mention internal storage as 'ROM' on that specs picture.
  • InvidiousIgnoramus - Thursday, March 7, 2019 - link

Probably because that's what ROM is? 🤔
  • SquarePeg - Thursday, March 7, 2019 - link

    *Read Only Memory?
  • HollyDOL - Friday, March 8, 2019 - link

Based on your point I've done a bit of digging and according to definitions which seem to be in majority these days, all non-volatile storage belongs to ROM group.
    Consider myself educated.
  • erple2 - Sunday, March 31, 2019 - link

I think that someone isn't thinking correctly. It is true that all volatile storage isn't ROM, but it's also not true that all non-volatile storage is ROM. Solid state storage can be written to, and thus doesn't count as ROM.
  • Xajel - Thursday, March 7, 2019 - link

    Few questions:
    1. 3.5mm ?
    2. microSD slot ?
    3. Any other similar product with such a price ?

If it has the first two, then it might be the perfect phone to watch movies/tv shows.
  • ads295 - Thursday, March 7, 2019 - link

Before getting too excited we should understand if this is actually a well thought out product with optimised software running things rather than a bunch of outsourced components assembled and sold in a package. Stuff like display calibration (if only for the white point) and proper kernel optimisation for the CPU along with tuned camera software is what really adds value, amongst other things.
Also, would be very interesting if this was manufactured in Algeria.
  • cpkennit83 - Thursday, March 7, 2019 - link

Extremely unlikely. Probably something like BQ. marketed and supported in spain, made in china
  • zodiacfml - Thursday, March 7, 2019 - link

Feels like a rebrand of the Oppo or Vivo phones.
  • ksec - Thursday, March 7, 2019 - link

Which annoys me, why isn't there a single word on it in the article whether this is true not.
